    Christopher Bogart
    Chief Executive Officer

    Christopher Bogart is Chief Executive Officer, a director and co-founder of Burford, and he also serves as a member of its Management and Commitments Committees. Under his leadership, Burford has become the largest global provider of legal finance and a force in the global legal market. He has been featured on 60 Minutes, named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the world’s most influential decision makers and by the Financial Times as a top 10 legal innovator. He is also the only person to be ranked by Chambers in Band 1 in both the US and the UK in their inaugural litigation finance rankings.

    Before co-founding Burford, Mr. Bogart held numerous senior executive positions with Time Warner. As Executive Vice President & General Counsel of Time Warner Inc., he managed one of the largest legal functions in the world. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Time Warner Cable Ventures and one of four senior executives operating Time Warner Cable, with $9 billion in revenue and 30,000 employees, and as Chief Executive Officer of Time Warner Entertainment Ventures.

    At Time Warner, Mr. Bogart played a significant role in major transactions and litigation matters including the $350 billion America Online merger; the acquisition of Turner Broadcasting, including CNN and other media properties; antitrust litigation with News Corporation; the attempted acquisition of EMI Music; a joint venture with Microsoft and Compaq; a constitutional challenge to the federal Cable Act; and a $550 million litigation matter involving the Six Flags theme park chain.

    Mr. Bogart came to Time Warner from Cravath, where he was a litigator representing companies such as IBM, GE and Time Warner. He has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Glenavy Capital, an international media and technology investment firm whose projects included Churchill Ventures, a publicly traded media and technology investment vehicle of which he also served as Chief Executive Officer, as well as the Glenavy Arbitration Investment Fund, a pioneering litigation finance vehicle. He began his professional career as an investment banker with what is now JPMorgan Chase. Mr. Bogart is a member of the Board of Advisors of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice, a Director of the International Legal Finance Association, a member of the Board of Trustees of Hackley School, Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals of Briarcliff Manor, New York, and a member of the Board of Advisors of New York City’s Legal Aid Society

    Jonathan Molot
    Chief Investment Officer

    Jonathan Molot is Chief Investment Officer and co-founder of Burford, and he also serves as Chair of Burford's Commitments Committee and a member of its Management Committee. In his capacity as CIO, he has overseen Burford’s review and analysis of thousands of commercial matters worth hundreds of billions of dollars, including obtaining a $16 billion judgment against Argentina, the largest in US history.

    Mr. Molot co-founded Burford shortly after publishing his seminal article on litigation finance, “A Market in Litigation Risk”, in the University of Chicago Law Review. He is among the most cited thinkers on how law firms can evolve to address the limits of the cash partnership model and is one of the most frequently cited experts in legal finance.

    Prior to co-founding Burford, Mr. Molot founded Litigation Risk Solutions, a business that assisted hedge funds, private equity funds, investment banks, insurance companies and insurance brokers in developing litigation risk transfers where lawsuits threaten to interfere with M&A and private equity deals.

    In addition to his role at Burford, Mr. Molot is a Professor of Law at Georgetown University. Mr. Molot has taught courses on litigation risk management and finance at Harvard Law School, Georgetown University Law Center and George Washington University Law School. His articles have appeared in the Yale Law Journal, the Stanford Law Review, the Columbia Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, the Virginia Law Review, the University of Chicago Law Review, the Georgetown Law Journal, the Indiana Law Journal and the Southern California Law Review.

    Mr. Molot served as counsel to the economic policy team on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team and as senior advisor in the Department of the Treasury at the start of the Obama Administration. He was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb in New York and at Kellogg Hansen in Washington, DC.

    Jordan Licht
    Chief Financial Officer

    Jordan Licht joined Burford Capital in 2022 as Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for Burford’s global finances and financial strategy. In this capacity, he oversees Burford’s funding, capital management, financial reporting and investor relations. Additionally, he is responsible for Burford’s human resources, technology, facilities and back office operations, and he is a member of Burford’s Management Committee and an ex officio member of its Commitments Committee.

    Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Licht was most recently the Chief Operating Officer of both Caliber Home Loans and Newrez LLC, two multi-billion-dollar mortgage businesses that combined under the Rithm banner (NYSE: RITM). Prior to the combination, Mr. Licht held a series of finance and operating roles at Caliber Home Loans, including as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. Previously, he spent a decade at Morgan Stanley in financial services investment banking. Before his investment banking career, Mr. Licht spent six years as a management consultant at Diamond Consulting (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

    Craig Arnott
    Deputy Chief Investment Officer

    Craig Arnott joined Burford in 2016 and is Deputy Chief Investment Officer, and a member of Burford’s Management and Commitments Committees, with responsibility across Burford’s investment portfolio. In this capacity, he helps lead Burford’s review and management of its global portfolio.

    Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Arnott advised the company while serving as barrister at Sixth Floor Selborne and Wentworth Chambers in Sydney. Before being called to the Bar, he was a Partner and Head of Competition/Antitrust Law in London at the international law firm Fried Frank. During his time at Fried Frank, Mr. Arnott oversaw many significant transactions, serving as counsel to the pharmaceuticals company Merck in its acquisition of Schering-Plough and as European Counsel to Delta & Pine Land during its acquisition by The Monsanto Company. Before his time at Fried Frank, Mr. Arnott was a litigator at Cravath in New York, Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney and Ashurst in London.

    Travis Lenkner
    Chief Development Officer

    Travis Lenkner joined Burford Capital as Chief Development Officer and a member of Burford’s Management Committee in 2024, with responsibility for identifying and executing strategic initiatives that drive growth and align with the company's long-term objectives.

    Recognized by The American Lawyer as an “innovative business creator in the legal space,” Mr. Lenkner has built and led pathbreaking organizations at the intersection of law and finance. He is a collaborative problem-solver and seasoned executive whom the New York Times described as “driven by a legal reformist spirit and entrepreneurial zeal.”

    For more than a decade, Mr. Lenkner has been a global leader in the legal finance market. In 2013, he entered the nascent field as a launch partner in Gerchen Keller Capital, which Burford acquired in 2016. Following that, Mr. Lenkner co-founded and was Managing Partner of one of the premier complex-litigation and mass-action law firms in the United States; he also co-founded and was a Director of the firm’s European counterpart. Most recently, Mr. Lenkner was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Larkspur Partners, a legal finance and advisory firm. Before starting his own enterprises, Mr. Lenkner was Senior Counsel at The Boeing Company and an attorney in the New York and Washington, DC offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

    Andrew Farthing
    Director, US Commercial Case Management

    Andrew Farthing joined Burford Capital as a Director on the Case Management team in 2024. He is responsible for managing matters in Burford’s US portfolio. Before joining Burford, he managed a worldwide organization and portfolio of commercial litigation as a Director at Apple Inc., where he worked for more than a decade.

    Prior to his time at Apple, Andrew was an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP and began his legal career as a clerk to Hon. William B. Chandler III of the Delaware Court of Chancery.

    Mr. Farthing has a JD, Order of the Coif, from the University of Southern California School of Law, and a BS, Business Administration, from the University of California, Berkeley.

    Philipp Leibfried
    Head of Europe

    Philipp Leibfried joined Burford Capital in 2017 and is Head of Europe with responsibility for leading Burford’s continental European business. Based in Burford’s London office, he actively engages with law firms, companies, investors and financial institutions across Europe and beyond. He also oversees Burford’s insurance activity. He previously served as Burford’s UK/European Corporate Counsel in London for more than five years.

    Before joining Burford, Mr. Leibfried spent nearly a decade at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London. Coming to Freshfields from university and qualifying as a corporate lawyer, he gained broad international experience, including in public and private mergers and acquisitions and with a particular focus on financial institutions. He has been a Solicitor admitted to practice in England & Wales since 2011.

    Mr. Leibfried earned his Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford, where he is an alumnus of Lincoln College. He previously graduated from University College London with an LLB (Law with German Law) with First Class Honours.

    A native of Germany, he is fluent in German and English.

    Evan Meyerson
    Managing Director, Head of US Commercial

    Evan Meyerson joined Burford Capital in 2019 and is a Managing Director with responsibility for leading Burford’s US commercial litigation business.

    Prior to joining Burford, Evan was a litigator at Paul Weiss, where his practice focused on complex civil litigation. Before Paul Weiss, he clerked on the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Evan began his career as an analyst at Bain Capital, evaluating venture capital investment opportunities.

    Mr. Meyerson graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and magna cum laude from Dartmouth College.

    Quentin Pak
    Managing Director, Burford Asia

    Quentin Pak joined Burford Capital in 2017 and is a Director with responsibility for leading Burford’s office in Singapore and for expanding Burford’s resources to support clients in Asia. Mr. Pak works with corporations, law firms and insolvency practitioners in providing legal risk management and financing solutions, both in relation to Asia-based legal proceedings and for companies in the region involved in disputes in other jurisdictions.

    Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Pak was most recently the head of the Asia commodities business at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. His previous experience includes senior positions at major global financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Barclays and Deutsche Bank. Before going into banking, Mr. Pak practiced law in London and Singapore.

    Mr. Pak earned degrees in law and aeronautical engineering from the University of Bristol.

    Emily Slater
    Managing Director, US Commercial

    Emily Slater joined Burford Capital in 2010 and is a Managing Director with responsibility for assessing and underwriting legal risk across a broad range of practice areas and for identifying high-value investments in the marketplace. Ms. Slater has over a decade of experience working with clients to structure state-of-the-art business solutions using legal finance and underwriting legal finance transactions. She played a significant role in building Burford’s globally recognized, industry-leading investment and underwriting processes. She is recognized as a Lawdragon Global 100 Leader in Litigation Finance.

    Prior to joining Burford, Ms. Slater spent nearly a decade as a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she specialized in complex securities and other bet-the-company commercial litigation and regulatory investigations.

    Ms. Slater has a JD from New York University School, where she was the Colloquium Editor of the Review of Law and Social Change, and a BA in Government from Colby College.

    Katharine Wolanyk
    Managing Director, Head of Intellectual Property

    Katharine Wolanyk joined Burford Capital in 2016 and is a Managing Director and Head of Burford Capital’s global intellectual property business.

    Katharine is an IP industry leader, with recognitions including Chambers Band 1 for IP litigation funding, the IAM Strategy 300, and the Lawdragon 100 Global Leaders in Legal Finance. Ms. Wolanyk served as a public company Board Director at Acacia Research Corporation.

    Prior to joining Burford, she was President of Soverain Software; General Counsel of an internet hosting services provider; SVP of corporate development at a publicly-traded enterprise software company; and a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins. Before law school, she was a systems engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company, where she worked on the radar system for the B-2 Stealth Bomber.

    Ms. Wolanyk earned her JD from the University of Chicago Law School and a BS in engineering from Michigan State University.

    Josh Wood
    Head of Investor Relations

    Josh Wood joined Burford Capital in 2024 as the Head of Investor Relations. He is responsible for directing Burford’s investor relations activities.

    Before joining Burford, Josh spent 14 years in the alternative asset management industry, most recently as the Head of Shareholder Relations at Patria Investments and before that as Vice President of FP&A and Investor Relations at Carlyle. Prior to that, he held finance roles at CapitalSource and Cambridge Associates.

    Mr. Wood earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
